Bronze Drake run - Culling of Stratholme Heroic
Submitted by Spitbeard on Tue, 03/02/2009 - 10:34.
I've been reading up on this recently and thought it would be useful if I put some of the info here
I've combined several snippets of information from various sites. Apparently you don't need to kill the fourth boss Mal’Ganis to get to the Infinite Corrupter. Haven't been able to verify that, but I've read it several times from different sources.
Requirements:
* More than 1500 dps per damage dealer, and ~1500 dps from the tank, is the absolutely, positively, rock-bottom minimum for a successful timed run.
* Mana regen is key. Your healer has to be able, more or less, to go four waves plus a boss without drinking.
* The bosses themselves are not that hard, doing the run in time mainly requires dealing with the trash in an efficient and fast way. This normally requires an approach focused on maximum AoE.
Time table:
Meathook dead with 20-21 minutes left
Salramm the Fleshcrafter dead with 14 minutes left
Chrono-Lord Epoch dead with 7 minutes left
Infinite Corrupter engaged with 2 minutes left
Basically you're going to want to be hitting the gauntlet with a good 5-6 minutes or you'll be hard-pressed to make it through quickly enough.
save theirs to help out in the gauntlet, if you brought one.
Having a tank and off-tank for the gauntlet saves a lot of time, since they can leapfrog each other to pull each group group with elites in it. This splits up the healing load evenly enough that one decently geared healer should be able to keep both of them up while they handle their respective groups. Also, Army of the Dead is amazing in this area - have your DK(
After you kill the third boss Chrono-lord Epoch, don't wait for Arthas. Run through the hidden tunnel and out the other side. Run through the packs of undead until you round up 3-4 of the elites and stop. Kill them and continue. DO NOT talk to Arthas when he stops outside of where Mal'Ganis spawns as he will run off to the final boss before you can do the drake boss. You don't need to talk to Arthas to start the next sequence, that wastes a good minute.
Take the left path on the fork before Mal'Ganis' room (the right side is Mal'Ganis himself) through a part of the city that does not seem to be Scourge-infested (ie. with sunlight). Keep following that pass and you will see the Infinite Corruptor. It generally takes a group ~2-3 minutes to down him, he does not have many special abilities to be worried about, but do DPS your hearts out. If you're running short as you reach the Infinite Corrupter, keep in mind you can kite him away from the portal to gain extra time. After you’ve killed the Infinite Corruptor feel free to go a bit back and kill Mal’Ganis if you feel like it.
Additional information:
* Don't buff until just before Arthas kills his first civilian.
* Necromancers are the most dangerous, so always focus fire them first.
* Three main locations (with some variance within each) where waves spawn. Kill casters first; once you're down to two or three melee enemies in each wave, start kiting them to the middle location. Conversely, tell your hunters and mages to *not* use frost traps or frost novas; you don't want them slowed!
* For Meathook, have one ranged DPS stand farther away from the boss than the healer to soak most or all of the silences.
* For Chrono-Lord Epoch, make sure the healer is aware of the stops ahead of time.
* Once Arthas is inside the town hall he is buffable/healable; tell your party.

nice write up ^^

must add that being a pally in this event is a HUGE help ^^
the gauntlet is probably where u make it or fail it, its easy to get stuck on killing one or 2 of the elites. i would suggest from a tank point of veiw, aoe as much as possible to get the none elite trash on u as much as possible, while doing this, round up amybe 3 or more elites, kill em and move on. i usually move on when they are nearing death. main thing is to not stop moving, or only when u are reaching the max amount of mobs u can handle, but when they are under control, start moving again!
must be one of my favourite thigns to do in any instance
Nice tips, especially about

Nice tips, especially about not waiting for Arthas after 3rd boss. I assume that he will spawn in new place when you run through the valley of scourge? Also, when time runs out and even if boss is almost dead, he can escape through portal? I didn't know that
Anyway, I haven't been lucky yet to finish this timed run. Although I don't care about drake, it would be nice to see that additional boss hehe

I'm only halfway on the amount I need for the epic flying skill, but I'd would like to have that drake
It a fun way to acquire an epic flapper and the badges you get are a nice bonus

I managed to do it once, We

I managed to do it once, We had insanely good dps (Cala that is) and we just ran through the instance burning everything in our sight. if I remember correctly, we killed the additional boss and still had 3 or 4 minutes left.
And yeah, you don't kill Mal'Ganis first. when you finish the run through the scourge Stratholme, you take left, (not right to Mal'Gannis) and there's the boss.
Btw, I realized the last time I've been there that before you enter the Town Hall you can see the boss waiting on the other side of the bars
The drake is pretty and is a nice change from the flight form
ty again, Cala^^
