Biography
I started playing online aaaagggees ago. Seems that way anyway. I was really into the table top game Warhammer when I was a kid and I used to read the Games Workshop Magazine White Dwarf. It was in one of these that I read an article about a MUD called Wolfenburg, it was the brain child of a guy called Paul Barnett and was a text only game based on warhammer.(paul Barnett is now one of the major creators behind WAR).
I thought Id like to give it a go, so I got a computer and subscribed, I made a Wood Elf Waywatcher called Arinvadel and quickly rose through the ranks to become the GM of the Waywatcher guild. It was while playing this MUD that I heard about my second online game, Runescape. Wolfenburg lost the licence allowing it to be associated with Warhammer, and they had to redesign it and call it Kingdom of Heroes, it just didnt feel the same after all the changes( all due to warhammer online being developed) so I dropped the game for the more graphic based Runescape, got quite a high lvl character on there and then I bought a new computer.
With the better faster computer at my disposal I tried a few more games, had lots of fun playing Rome: Total War online and then I bought Warcraft 3, and played that online aswell.
It wasnt long before I heard of a new game that had been released called World of Warcraft, so I plunged in and gave it a try, cant remember exactly when but was about 2- 3 months after launch.
Of course the first character I made was a Night elf hunter called Arinvadel! My online persona continued! I levelled him to about lvl 25 and then thought I would try my hand at making a guild. I made one called the Felwood Waywatchers, and originally it was for Night elf hunters only!!! (jeesh what a nub).
It wasnt long before somebody pointed out to me that you really do need other classes if your going to get anywhere, so I set about recruiting. Of course the first port of my call was the Nelf starting area, and while there, on that first day of spamming general chat, I met some of the people who have to this day remained my closest friends online. 3 priests joined, Sindira, Daelos and Moonlyght.
Moonlyght was an alt of the main tank for Chronicles of Chaos RG2 at the time, so I got a few excellent pointers and we continued to grow, however, it soon became apparent I had absolutely no clue really what I was doing, I was just grinding out the levels thinking that was pretty much all there was too do in the game, not knowing a single thing about raids, etc.
So eventually most people moved on and I decided to get a bit more experience before I tried Leading a guild again. Sindira and Daelos both left to join The Secret Faith, Moonlyght put his alt in CoC and then put me in touch with a guy called Lekza, who at the time was joint GM of a guild called the Companions. I disbanded the Felwood Waywatchers and joined Meg , Lekza, anstrit etc in the companions, it was while here that I met my other close friend in both game and now in real life (although he lives in holland and me in england)Elzae, a resto druid.
I had at this point given up on my hunter as I seriously CANNOT kite, Im really bad at it, I mean just awful, and I had started levelling my rogue, Aylith. Together me and Elzae soon tucked the levels away and reached lvl 60 but it wasnt long before the hierarchy in The Companions grew a bit restless and Lekza moved into the raiding realm with Chronicles of Chaos. The guild fell apart with not many people being online so me and Elzae decided we would join Sindira and Daelos in The Secret Faith.(The Companions is now up and running again Im glad to say, really nice people).
I loved that guild, if I could go back in time to anytime in WOW it would be my first 6 months in that guild. Met some brilliant people, Harriot, daelos' real life friend and still a good friend of mine, Madmajesty, Harriots dad who died tragicially not long ago ( a very sad time) Clarry and Deano, a scouser like me.
Had some great times raiding with An Unknown Entity even though half the time I had no clue what i was doing, I actually went to MC at lvl 59 and won a roll for the tier set legs that dropped off Magmadar, on my first run even though I couldnt even use them at the time^^.
Anyways as TBC rolled around alot of guilds seemed to be falling apart and Etuhu, the GM of TSF decided to disband it and restart again as Neverwhere. I never really liked most of the hardcore raiders that joined the guild then just because we had progression, the general close knitted spirit of the guild seemed to dwindle, so I rerolled on Hellfire as Rewt.
Etuhu had his account hacked and Neverwhere fell apart, so I came back to Aszune with Rewt and joined Sindira and Deanos guild failte (Irish for welcome). However it wasnt doing anything and there was never anyone online as more and more people just lost interest, so I had a long talk with Sindira and decided to try a guild that was at least doing Kara, just for the experience.
The guild I found was Akatsukiryu, and that guild is a hell of a lot like this, full of fantastic people and an excellent guildleader in Frosty (a female from holland whos main is a paladin!) The comparisions are actually quite scary! As i joined they had a raid allaince with Psychosomatic Assassins, and sadly a few people took their mains out of akat and put them in PA. Again I found myself as the only person who seemed to be logging on (again I think akat has regrouped and is still going strong), so I decided to once again try pastures new.
It was during this time, as I was doing a bombing run on Halaa that i saw Wiljge fishing, ofc I peppered her with bombs as I flew over attempting to scare her fish away =P, and as I looked at the Aszune forum on the official site I saw the thread for recruitment and thought Id give it a go. And here I am. Once again blessed to be surrounded by really nice people (im like a nice person magnet I think) I also remember raiding MC in the early days with a few Lemmings tagging along!
So Ive been about a bit, I feel Ive never really reached my potential in the game because I just cannot commit the required time to it, house kids job etc see to that, but hey, I do alright considering. Im really looking forward to WotLK as Im hoping it will ignite a few of the fires that have been put out lately but who knows. IM just glad most of all that IM in the most stable guild Aszune has probably ever had as it rolls around and I hope we all come through pretty unscathed on the other side.
Heres to a Lemming future! (now, wheres that cliff....)
